National Kitten Day

When it comes to holidays, Dec. 4 is, well, "purrfect". It's National Kitten Day, a worldwide event that not only celebrates kittens of all shapes, breeds and sizes, but also encourages adoption.

Animal Welfare Advocate, Celebrity Pet Expert and animal lover, Colleen Paige, launched the special day in 2013. Besides celebrating kittens in all their adorable cuteness, National Kitten Day also shines the spotlight on the millions of unwanted, neglected, abused and unloved kittens all over the world. Each year, millions of dogs and cats are euthanized in shelters across America through no fault of their own.

In an online interview, Paige said:

"National Kitten Day is just another way of celebrating the wonderment of cats and expanding the life saving efforts of National Cat Day. My whole life is about ending the needless suffering of innocentanimals, so I will continue to create awareness about the need for adoption and the plight of homeless animals until I run out of ways to help them....which is not likely!"

Paige is also the founder of many pet-related holidays including National Cat Day, National Puppy Day, National Dog Day and more! National Kitten Day is yet another pet holiday created to save furry lives.

Please consider opening your heart and your home to a kitten in need by adopting from a local shelter or rescue! Dec. 4 is also National Cookie Day and Santa's List Day.
